How to prepare for your Headshot..
Firstly thank you for booking your headshot with Graham Davies Photography. I look forward to helping you create some great headshots for you to use to secure work and promote your career.
How to prep for your Headshot with Graham Davies Photography
Prior..
Good night sleep night before
Hydrate, drink plenty of water prior to arriving
Avoid tight fitted clothing around your neck and upper arms, wrists. Plus avoid tight fitted hats on your head that can disrupt your hair line. Take off hair bobbles on you wrist.
Clothing choices..
Showcase your eyes, so always bring an item of clothing that matches your eyes. Also another that compliments your eyes (look at colour wheel below) Note opposites on the colour wheel work really well. So for example if you have blue eyes then orange (opposite) can work well.

They also say colour right next to each other on the wheel also work well together.
I will always use backdrops that match your colouring.
Styling..
Pick items of clothing that do not draw the eye. You want the focus to be on your face not your clothing. So avoid big bold patterns and logos. Avoid fussy frills or distracting stitching lines. Keep everything simple.
Simple string vest style, T-shirts, round or v neck jumpers, etc work well. I always like textures so a wooly jumper or jean material I personally like to photograph but also a smooth finish quality t shirt works equally as well.
Finally if you’ve something you just simply love to wear because it epitomises you then bring it! It might even go against some of the guidelines above but if you’ve gone with the high end collection then we can certainly slip in one or two more quirky pictures that truly represent you regardless of guidelines.
Bring your clothing hung up not crumpled up in a carrier bag! lol
If you are unsure about anything drop us a line prior to your shoot at anytime.
