Black & White Portrait Project

30th September 2022
I recently bought a Mamiya RB67 Medium Format camera with the view to produce an art exhibition of my work.
I began as an artist at a young age and the eye for detail and the creativity has never left me. Since being a professional photographer for over 13 years now I always felt at some point I'd want to revisit film photography.
The rise in popularity of film photography along with this desire to showcase my work brought me to the medium format camera and several ideas for Portraiture Exhibitions.

The plan has being hatched:

First produce a body of work and iron out the kinks and flaws of using this new vintage camera. In conjunction with the Mamiya I will also use the Canon R5 and create a set of prints to see how the final images will eventually look and in general just a good practice. The results of some of the first sittings you see here.

Secondly source a centre in which to house the exhibition.

Third to create a theme on which to base the portraits.

Fourth source all the subjects necessary.

Then shoot, process, print, frame and showcase.

Enjoy the images here helped by all the volunteers who gave up an hour of their time to help me stumble my way through the lighting and Mamiya camera.
