Belly Dancing Weekend
In July I will be attending a Belly Dancing Weekend taking pictures both for the organisers and the participants. This should be a great weekend of music and dance, featuring two international presenters.

Glamorgan Gazette Images
The images that I have been working on for the council are beginning to appear. This week's Glamorgan Gazette (March 25th) contains a full page spread of several of the images from the collection of images I am producing for the council.

Not only did we have this spread but coincidentally a recent commissioned shoot of Huw Incanna-Davies, Minister for the Environment, visiting Invacare also made the same issue.

Over the next few weeks the web site will take on a new, more streamlined and professional appearance. Galleries will be reduced to show a selection of the best images. This will clear up space for future work along with additional pages for downloads such as future packages of Business Portraits, Company Brochure work etc

Scott & Laura's Wedding Day

On Saturday 7th November Scott & Laura were wed at Coed-y-Mwstwr. 1 Day later their album of over 230 pictures are available for viewing from which Scott & Laura are selecting 20 images for their own album.

Pictures of Bridgend by Night
We have a New Gallery in the Stock Photography section. The theme being Bridgend during the night time. Some might say that Bridgend is best captured when its dark!
My project is to show the effects of slow shutter speeds and the amazing colours that can be captured and the use of light at these times of the day, using the landmarks of Bridgend.
Also to be added shortly will be the Churches of Bridgend, Modern architecture of Bridgend, Bridges of the Ogwr and Castles of Bridgend. I am sure I am not the only one that can see there is a lot to be proud of with the architecture and history of this old town.

Best of Bridgend

I am pleased to announce that I have been approached and have accepted the role as the official photographer for the Best of Bridgend.
This is a great internet directory showcasing businesses of Bridgend. It also has a supporting magazine, the second issue has arrived on our doorsteps a few weeks ago and has proved very successful once more. A lot of the images displayed in this issue are my work.

Bridgend... Where business works

Graham Davies Photography has just landed a prestigious contract with Bridgend County Borough Council. The project will take two months to complete and will include over 400 images. The focus being the Technological Business Development in the town. Plus images of the great architecture that we take for granted as residents. The busy town life and capturing the vibrant McArthur Glen Outlet are amongst just some of the images to be produced.

New Studio Lighting Equipment Investment
All my work up till now has either been achieved through ambient (natural sunlight) light or use of speedlites (on camera flash units with 3 additional speedlites). I have been very pleased with the development of the images but I felt to achieve even greater image quality I needed to take the next step and invest in 4 300watt professional flash heads plus soft boxes, additional umbrellas, snoots and a wireless remote trigger.
Here is a sample of my latest work using just a snoot, and umbrella with 2 of the 300watt flash heads.

Snow Falls on Bridgend
Everywhere I went this morning I saw budding camera men and women braving the elements in their quest for the perfect composition. And rightly so, for what fabulous scenery a snowscape makes. There is nothing to make a place looking cleaner, brighter, more picturesque than a crisp snow fall. I have several images out of my two hour stint that I am pleased with and this is one of them. As you turn to go down towards Methyr Mawr and the 'Swing Bridge' just before the bridge over the Ogwr near the Tennis Club I was confronted with a picture postcard view, unspoilt my human hand. I hope you like it.

Latest Photo Shoots
Been a busy time lately for Portrait Shoots, despite leaving my studio in Bridgend Town Centre. These recent sessions have infact been carried out in a spare room at my home! Its amazing what can be achieved with natural light and some fill lights and reflectors.


Grass Roots Galleries Update
Due to the last minute rush I am receiving another batch of print orders from these two galleries. Therefore I am keeping the Galleries open until Wednesday 16th December to accommodate these families. Grass Roots Pictures
This was my first Gymnastics Event Shoot and it was a real test of my knowledge and application of my Canon EOS1d! The lighting varied across the 3 floors and I had very little space between the floors to take great shots from.
I thoroughly enjoyed the day and the atmosphere created from this event. There were over 1000 images taken and they have now been viewed over 2600 times!! I have just sent off the latest batch of orders and there are more building towards this weekend.
Dont forget this is the last weekend that the images will be available. I will be keeping some images live as examples of my work.

Wedding Photography 2010
Having produced several wedding albums I am beginning to find the inquiries and bookings coming in for 2010.
This is a great boost to my work and shows the value for money coupled with the quality of the images that is helping to raise interest in my photography.

Next Sunday I am photographing the Grass Roots Tumbling Event at the Afan Lido with over 200 gymnasts!

What a great experience. Decided this morning to find a new event to photograph. Had a scout through the internet in search of What's On in the area. Came across the Llandow Circuit event. Roped my son Grant along as a second camera man and we had a great afternoon shooting these amazing cars travelling sideways around the track!!

My son Grant took this one not bad hey first time with my second camera.
Shame we couldn't get track side for a better vantage point but still generally pleased with the results. One or two images are definite keepers!

The sun shined, the dogs paraded, the volunteers turned out in force and a great day was had by all two and four legged supporters of the Greyhound Rescue Wales Annual Dog Show.

Pembrey Country Park was once again taken over by followers and supporters of GRW. The show is not just open to retired or rescued greyhounds there were breeds of all shapes and sizes.

Valley Stadium Race Track in Ystrad Mynach held a Race Day donating all gate monies to Greyhound Rescue Wales. Members of Greyhound Rescue Wales were invited to attend with merchandise and speak to race owners and spectators regarding their work and charity.

I used the opportunity to get some fab pictures of true speed merchants in action! These dogs are designed to run fast, they love to race and its amazing spectacle to watch these superbly fast animals show off their speed and agility.

In my Stock Photography section I will be continually building upon a variety of themes. The first of which is Bridgend by Night.

I went out on the new walkway by the old historic bridge, which crosses the Ogwr on the far side of town near the Civic Building. I was amazed at the beauty of the lights and the shine created on the railings which protect the walkway from the river. I hope you like the images as well.

In the blown up version of the print you can actually see the light of the cross burning bright coming from the church on Newcastle Hill.

Recently I went in search for some inspiration, and boy did I find it. I first decided to head down the A48 and see where it took me. On route I remember seeing the Hawk Centre many years ago and thinking that one day I must visit there. So with camera and lenses in tow I set the sat nav (my nose!) for the Hawk Centre.
Perfect timing, I had about 30 minutes to settle in and have a look around before the afternoon feeding demonstration was taking place (12.30 & 2.30pm each day)
I was first greeted by the European Eagle Owl

and from that first clik I was hooked. What amazing birds, so regal, aloof and yet such great models!

This wont be my first visit I am sure.

I have recently been contacted by the Best of Bridgend to become their official photographer. This was a nice surprise and a coincidence as i have been considering being involved and attached to a magazine/newspaper in the area to improve links with local businesses.
So now hopefully I can achieve both in one fail swoop. Checkout the links page to link to the web site of Best of Bridgend. At present none of the images are my work. However I have taken all the images of the advert of Quaranta Sei in the magazine version.
